On February 6th Lambeth’s planning committee unanimously rejected a plan to create high and intrusive housing blocks between Vauxhall Walk and Worgan Street SE11. The plans would have blocked daylight and created oppressively close new buildings for residents of Arne, Jameson, Kennedy Houses and on Vauxhall Walk. VGERTA, that represents the residents of Vauxhall Gardens ,were delighted after a lot of hard work. ‘Chrys’ Chrysotomos the VGERTA secretary called it ‘amazing news’ and looks forward  to working with the developer on improved plans.  Princes Ward’s Labour councillors Jo Simpson and David Amos and Ward Secretary Martin Bailey spoke at the committee to emphasise the strength of local feeling and the over-development that was being planned. SE11View hopes that any future proposals are in keeping with local building heights and peoples’ wishes. We are not against new developments but they must respect local communities.
