Lambeth’s part of the new sewer project

You may not have noticed but a huge coffer dam has been completed and two more are about to start construction by Vauxhall Bridge.

These are part of the project to feed London’s overflowing sewage into a new giant tunnel being dug under the Thames.

For full details of the project visit:

Luckily there are few residents in the area as the pile driving has been quite intense.

I visited the site with staff from the Tideway project.  They are keen to engage with the local community, schools etc. Here I am with Mike Appleton and Natasha Rudat.

One thing to look out for there will be come closures of the pavement on Vauxhall Bridge coming up while machinery is manoeuvred into place. This is what they say:

The northern footpath will be closed intermittently at any point between 09.30 – 12.30 and 13.30 – 16.30 from Monday to Friday, and between 08.00 – 13.00 on Saturdays, for a maximum of 2 hour a day. A clear and fully manned diversion will be in place with traffic marshals and will last for up to 3 weeks, starting from midweek next week.
